Mountains of the Moon
TICKETS ON SALE NOV. 14
Chris Benchetler’s Mountains of the Moon explores the unseen connections between sport, life, music, and the living earth set to the timeless tunes of the Grateful Dead. Captured almost entirely at night using cutting-edge cinematography, the film takes viewers on a surreal journey through ocean, river, and mountain landscapes while featuring some of the world’s greatest athletes, adventurers and thinkers.
The evening is hosted by evo Tahoe City and Arc’teryx and includes a live band, The Coffis Brothers, performing the Grateful Dead score. Chris will be at the screening to intro the movie and do Q&A.
A man with his own bent ski line, Chris Benchetler’s name is synonymous with progressive freeskiing and is cemented in the sport’s rich history. His DNA, along with his prolific art, is everywhere. It adorns his top-selling pro-model ski that has evolved into an entire line of skis since their inception in 2008, it endures in large-scale murals, and it has spilled into designs for some of the biggest apparel and gear makers in the snowsports world. An artist through and through, one of Chris’s earliest moves as a pro skier was to co-found Nimbus Independent, a seminal ski-film company that rewrote the rules for an entire generation, favoring soulful play over full-throttle gnar—an attitude and style that’s defined Chris’s career.
