Papsura: Peak of Evil

We are excited to host the world premiere of Papsura: Peak of Evil with Patagonia!

Tucked deep in the Indian Himalaya is a 21,100-foot behemoth called Papsura, the face of which is split by a line so perfect and massive it pushed the skills of even the most renowned ski mountaineers. Papsura: Peak of Evil follows professional snowboarders Nick Russell (Truckee local) and Jerry Mark from California’s Sierra Nevada to this remote corner of the world’s greatest mountain range, as they harness years of experience in pursuit of the biggest line of their lives.

Papsura is one of the loneliest peaks in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, a rocky triangle surrounded by huge glaciers at the end of the Tosh Valley. Locals refer to the mountain and its sibling summit, Dharmsura, as the “Peaks of Good and Evil.” Papsura’s exact elevation lands somewhere between 21,120 and 21,252 feet, depending on whom you ask.

In 2017, the late Hilaree Nelson, her partner Jim Morrison (Tahoe local) and photographer Chris Figenshau became the first to ski off the summit when they descended the 2,500-foot couloir in whiteout conditions. Afterward, Hilaree encouraged Nick Russell to make an attempt on the peak, which she described as one of the most beautiful lines she’d ever skied.

The evening will include Q&A with Nick Russel, Morgan Shields (director), Jerry Mark (snowboarder) and Blake Gorden (cinematographer). This is a FREE event but we recommend “purchasing” a $0 ticket to reserve your spot.
