Humpdayz Stumpdaze
U.S. Ski Hall of Fame member Greg Stump will host three evenings showcasing his vintage films, License to Thrill, Legend of Aahhh’s and Fistful of Moguls. These will be nights to reflect and rejoice in 20th century extreme ski film nostalgia, complete with special guests, raffle prizes, merchandise, and extremely radical bro-brah conversation afterwards.
Oct. 30: LICENSE to THRILL
Stump’s sixth film in as many years. It was the follow up film to the award-winning Blizzard of Aahhh’s. With the meteoric success of Blizzard, Stump found himself regretting his narration in Aahhh’s. He decided he would not narrate License to Thrill, instead he would the athletes tell the story through interviews. Another breakthrough for Stump and co-cinematographer Bruce Benedict was that Stump purchased a high speed Photosonics camera. This 500-frame a second camera was an integral tool in the look of the movie. The use of real time audio and helmet cameras took the film to a new place in ski movies.
Nov. 6: LEGEND of AAHHH’s
This follows the meteoric rise of Blizzard of Aahhh’s and the movies paradigm shifting impact on ski films and the world of extreme. A must see for the appreciation of ski movie history.
Nov. 13: FISTFUL of MOGULS with Jonny Moseley and Wayne Wong
This marks the return of Glen Plake and Greg Stump working together again after an acrimonious breakup in 1990. Plake was way into the Olympic prospects of a then unknown Jonny Moseley. Jonny went on to win the Gold Medal at the Nagano Olympics. Fistful of Moguls tells that story. If you are a mogul skier this is a must see film.
