Brennan Lagasse Arctic Refuge Slideshow
The Sacred Place Where Life Begins: Stories and Adventures from the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge
Brennan Lagasse has been traveling to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge for over a decade. This past summer, a dream trip years in the making was realized when local Tahoe college students from Sierra Nevada College, alongside past and present community members, joined Brennan in the heart of the Arctic Refuge for an adventure envisioned by Iñupiat Elder Robert Thompson. Starting in the Neets’aii Gwich’in community of Arctic Village, Alaska, the group quickly comes to understand the significance of this special place, from the sacred birthing grounds of the Porcupine Caribou herd, to sublime landscapes bathed in 24 hours of golden light.
Join us for an inspiring night of stories, featuring photos and film by renown local photographer/cinematographer Ming Poon, and a raffle to support Informed Experiences, an educational nonprofit that brings students and interested adventurers from Tahoe and beyond to experience this unique corner of the globe.
There is a special post-event screening of Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense at 10 pm. Purchase tickets separately HERE.
