POW Stoke Fest
POW Stoke Fest is back. This year, it’s bigger than the mountains. Join Protect Our Winters for an unforgettable night of films, community, and inspiration.
After another winter of thin snowpack across the West, wild weather swings, and shifting seasons made one thing clear: protecting the places we love can’t wait. With midterm elections this November, the outdoor community has a real shot to make its voice heard where it counts. POW brings together world-class storytelling by connecting our love for the outdoors to meaningful climate action. Through premiere films, athlete stories, and conversations with local leaders and organizers, you’ll see how skiers, riders, bikers, runners, and outdoor lovers are showing up this year, at the ballot box and beyond, to protect the seasons we live for.
The night includes conversations with POW athletes, filmmakers, and community leaders, and giveaways, prizes, and POW merch.
Please email Shara@protectourwinters.org if you will need ASL interpreters or any specific physical accommodations at the event.
Featured films include:
The Mind is the Environment (8min): An abstract animated short exploring the connection between mindfulness, consciousness, and climate action. Created by POW Creative Alliance member Nico Schiavone, the film blends surreal, dreamlike visuals with poetic storytelling to show how being present can reconnect us to nature and inspire change.
StewardShip (8min): A sailboat on the open ocean is freedom itself. Luc, a self-taught sailor, navigates Maine’s rugged coast — balancing solitude, community, and a life shaped by wind and water. His journey, intertwined with the Main Island Trail, becomes a testament to access, stewardship, and the deep bond between people and place.
Mountain Guides–Barometers of Change (8min): Created by POW Creative Alliance member Chris Shane, this film follows Angela into the Arctic, where her life’s work collides with a rapidly shifting planet. As a guide, she’s spent decades leading people into some of Earth’s most awe-inspiring places and witnesses the impacts of climate change with her own eyes.
Feast or Famine (20min): In a world grappling with the devastating impacts of climate change, Chris Cosentino, a celebrity chef/adventure cyclist, confronts the contradictions of his advocacy as he travels and seeks culinary inspiration while witnessing firsthand the destruction wrought on farms, wineries, and ecosystems.
